Your own private airforce...

Who wouldn't want to be the US president?? Not only the leader of the free-world, with the power and prestige that accompanies the post, but also look at one the perks of the job...your own private airforce! The G20 in Brisbane has seen an impressive array of US (and Australian) military firepower on show to support the visit of the rather inspirational Barack Obama. From the versatile, if somewhat unorthodox, V-22 Ospreys to the more recognisable Airforce One presidential 747 and Marine One Seaking helicopters there was some interesting air action around the Brisbane CBD all weekend!

Elizabeth de Varga Collection Launch 2014

It was a pleasure to capture the stunning new collection for Elizabeth de Varga Exclusive Fashions.
The evening was a wonderful celebration, coinciding with the the 30th birthday of the brand. Head designer Tammie, her dedicated team and a hand-picked selection of industry suppliers created a fabulous evening's entertainment for potential and existing clients that culminated in an exceptional catwalk parade of new couture gowns.
Some very lucky brides-to-be walked away with some fabulous prizes, including Dani, who won our engagement shoot and we can't wait to work on some concepts of save-the-date cards for her and her fiance.

Social Responsibility...

I was taking some shots at South Bank the other day and saw a Cormorant (aka Shag) sitting on this pile. With the light on the water and the way the bird was sitting drew me to the shot.

It looked fabulous until I zoomed into the image and saw that this poor bird had ingested some fishing tackle and was probably suffering terrible pain. Luckily some caring souls had already contact animal rescue about it and I thought twice about posting such a disturbing image on the blog.

However, one of the responsibilities of a photographer is to document real-life events, and whilst this wasn't what I had in mind at the time of shooting it, the image is a powerful indictment of recreational fishing in Brisbane. The damage that discarded lines, floats, hooks and so on can cause to wildlife and birds is simply catastrophic, so please be careful when you cut gear loose.

This and that, here and there...

The beach patrol - at just about every beach, the whole world over, gulls, of one form or another, keep a watch over proceedings - not to to monitor our safety, just watching in case we drop a chip or two!!
This just struck me - the Australian flag flying over a restless ocean - a reminder that we have all come from over the sea to be here!
A surprised sky! The sun peaking through the clouds and the placement of this decorative ironwork made me think of a surprised face!
Straight lines of the Kurilpa Bridge.

A little bit of a different angle on this Brisbane icon.
I know it's litter, but it's classy litter! Those Parisians really know how to party!
A lane in the forest in the infrared spectrum...
The complicated knitting of overhead lines at Roma St Station picked out by the setting sun.
Wish the traffic was this quiet all the time...
I wonder where we are? Any guesses?

Beachside Shoot Spectacular...

We just wrapped an amazing weekend of shoots down at Currumbin! Both are under wraps until they're published in The Wedding Alley, but let's just say they will be worth the wait! Here's a behind the scenes shot of me photographing Reagan from Katz Model Management in a When Freddie Met Lilly gown, with earrings from Elizabeth deVarga. Hair by Aleesha Darke and makeup by Suzi Den.

This is what we do!
