Melina & Adrian's Wedding

Last week I was in the very rare position of being at a Wedding but really having nothing to do!! Nadine had scored a last minute booking for a short video of the ceremony for Melina & Adrian at the stunning St Mary's at Kangaroo Point on the Sunday and so I went along to help carry the gear and grab a couple of shots for the video cover. Very sadly for Melina & Adrian the weather was really quite awful - just constant heavy drizzle making everything a bit more difficult. The couple had chosen Natalie from Milque Photography to do their actual photos and I have to admit, under the circumstances, I didn't envy her one little bit - it would have been a long and hard day. Although St Mary's is a beautiful church, it is reasonably small inside and with a videographer and another photographer working the venue I just stayed out of the way checking the additional camera angles for Nadine and grabbing the odd shot when I could. I just hope the couple had a great day once they got back to their recepton venue.

Starlite Dancers Bollywood Performance

Our own little superstar Zoe has a bit of a hectic week this week and it all started on Monday night with a performance with the Starlite Dancers at a Bollywood night for the launch of Tupperware's new catalogue. The Starlite Performance Team have been working very hard and looked absolutely brilliant - and no, we are not biased at all!! They all looked great and gave a fantastic show to the big crowd. Well done to all concerned, especially Shandell who put so much work into the team over the past few months.

Roslyn & Cameron's Wedding

Our busy spring Wedding season started quite early this year with Ros & Cameron celebrating their magical day on the 2oth August. Although the weather did it's best to interupt proceedings, the couple had chosen great locations for getting ready, the ceremony and the location shoot that enabled us to keep out of the wet for most of the day. Ros got ready at the Stamford which provided a fabulous backdrop for her photos. We then headed out to Hillstone at St Lucia for the ceremony where the fantastic staff had quickly rearranged things for an indoor ceremony. Delmar Broadbent conducted a lovely service before we headed off to the UQ campus at St Lucia for the location photos. The guys from Ken's Classic Cars did a wonderful job too - making sure the bridal party were as close as could be to the undercover areas of the quad. Photos around UQ are always great, but the darker skies and early twilight actually added a great element to the shoot and gave us some opportunities you don't always get. It was then back to the reception at Hillstone where we handed over to the team from Paramount who covered the reception. All in all a simply brilliant day and some amazing imagery which you will be able to see more of in a new sample album we have created for the Ideal Bride Expo at the RNA. Thanks to ros and Cameron for letting us be part of their day - we hope you love the images as much as we do!

Loud Events green screen function for Enerflex Opening

We really enjoy doing our corporate green screen work for functions and we've done several of these for Helena & the team at Loud Events. The latest was for the opening of a huge new industrial facility at Eagle Farm for Enerflex. This was an important milestone for Enerflex in Australia and the opening was conducted by Stephen Robertson MP, Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Energy and Minister for Trade. Loud Events created another unqiue event and we had a great time playing our part.

A few new shots from film...

A few weeks ago I uploaded some old shots from my film archives and was lamenting the decline of film based photography. I still love shooting with film and below are some images from some personal stuff taken over the past few weeks with a variety of film stocks. I think the results speak for themselves and go to show that film based photography is far from dead and buried and that now I just have to find a few couples who want their day captured on film.

The first shots above were taken with my trusty old Canon EOS 50 which still takes a fabulous image but I have recently taken delivery of a fantastic reconditioned Olympus Trip from the guys at www.tripman.co.uk I had a Trip many many years ago and it was the camera I really learned to take quality photos with. With their small size, exceptional quality optics, very robust frames and a selenium (solar) powered basic exposure system (no batteries - how green is that!!) these cameras were the ultimate travel camera in 70's and 80's and I have many fond memories of holidays captured with one of these. My new Trip is a bit more snazzy - couldn't go past the red crocodile skin finish!! - but works just as well as my first one and I look forward to sharing many more shots with you.
